A Custom Cabinetry Color That Hits All the Right Notes

This butler's pantry is a great example of how custom-colored cabinetry can create a sophisticated, highly personalized interior without sacrificing timeless appeal. While traditional white cabinetry remains a popular choice, a soft, muted blue-gray with subtle green undertones creates a calm, tailored aesthetic. This project uses Shiloh Cabinetry by W.W. Wood Products. The panel style is Hanover Inset painted with Sherwin-Williams Little Boy Blue.
Why does it work so well? Here are my thoughts:
Cool, but not icy: The gray undertone tempers the blue.
Not overly colorful: Feels natural
Distinctive without dominating: The color gives the space personality while allowing the countertops, brass hardware, and wood flooring to remain important.
The pantry would still be attractive in white, but the blue-gray finish gives it a recognizable point of view and a more bespoke appearance.
Lighting is Key! The large windows expose the cabinets to abundant natural light. Under warm evening lighting, the same paint may appear grayer, softer, or slightly warmer.
For a custom home, this is a particularly successful because it feels personal without being overly specific to a short-lived color trend. It could work beautifully in several key areas where you want more character than standard white cabinetry can provide.
